Melamine consist a layer of resin, decorative sheet of paper and engineered wood substrate. These layers are then compressed and heat treated together so that they all fuse and bond together. The edges of the board will be naked and therefore a hard wearing engineered thermoplastic edging is then heat activated and rolled on to product the finish product.
Melamine has very good properties such as scratch resistance, durability, temperature and moisture resistance. It is also the most cost-effective. But you can only have melamine in flat panels, it is not possible to have melamine routered doors. If you want routered doors, you will either choose polyurethane or thermolaminate finish.
