Today, I’m gonna talk about door finishes. Thermolaminate also known as Vacuum-form is a vinyl which has been heated enough which it can be stretched. What happens is the vinyl gets heated, it’s stretched out, it’s malleable, that get wrapped around a substrate such as moisture-resistant MDF board. When it cools down, the vinyl actually retains its shape around the substrate and therefore creating a seamless edge on the finish product. Okay, so that’s what thermolaminate is.
Thermolaminates are good for people who worry about longevity and maintenance of the product itself. It’s because the vinyl layer is exceptionally robust as a material itself. It’s hard wearing, and it provides excellent resistant to impact and chipping.
Thermolaminate also comes in wide range of colours, textures and patterns. You can get wood-grain, you can get metallic finishes, you can get high gloss or matte. You should be able to find something which fits your requirements. But because it is not a paint so to speak, the only disadvantage is if there is no, if you do have a specific colour and it’s not in that range or you can’t find the vinyl for it then you can’t really go there. That’s really the disadvantage that I can think about with thermolaminate.
I hope you find that very useful. Again, stay safe, be healthy.
